SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 41

Recognizing the achievements of Dr. Robert B. Walker.

Whereas, Dr. Robert B. Walker received his medical degree from the University of Florida College of Medicine and received his post-graduate training at Bowman Gray School of Medicine; and
Whereas, Dr. Robert B. Walker is currently the professor and chairman of the Department of Family and Community Health at Marshall University; and
Whereas, Dr. Robert B. Walker is also a practicing physician at the Lincoln Primary Care Center in Lincoln County. He is also the medical director of the Benedum Rural Geriatrics Program which offers health care to isolated rural senior citizens; and
Whereas, Dr. Robert B. Walker has distinguished himself as a champion for the underserved and disadvantaged of West Virginia and has received recognition from his peers, including Outstanding Rural Practice in America by the National Rural Health Association, Professor of the Year in West Virginia for teaching rural health to student health professionals and Special Service Award by the Fairfield Community for establishing a free clinic at the Ebenezer Community Center in Huntington. Dr. Walker's department at Marshall University has been recognized as the Outstanding Rural Health Program in America. Dr. Walker has also received the National Rural Health Association's 2000 Distinguished Educator Award; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Senate:
That the Senate hereby recognizes the achievements of Dr. Robert B. Walker; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Senate hereby recognizes the outstanding dedication and commitment of Dr. Robert B. Walker to rural health and geriatric programs for West Virginia's disadvantaged and elderly; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Senate hereby congratulates Dr. Robert B. Walker on the national recognition he has received through his extraordinary service in the interest of rural health, not only in West Virginia, but throughout the nation as well; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk is hereby directed to forward a copy of this resolution to Dr. Robert B. Walker.
